Programmatic Media Buying & Advertising

Programmatic media buying done well means constantly balancing scale against quality — chasing reach without dumping budget into bot traffic, low-viewability inventory, or misaligned audiences. AdOps Media's team manages your buys across leading DSPs, blending Open Auction, Private Marketplace deals, Preferred Deals, and Programmatic Guaranteed to hit the right mix for each campaign's goals. We work across Display, Video, CTV, DOOH, Mobile, Native, and Audio, so your channel strategy isn't limited by which platform your internal team happens to know best.

Buying is only half the job — the other half is knowing when a deal isn't performing and moving fast. We build creative testing frameworks into every campaign from day one, so you're not waiting until a mid-flight report to discover an ad set is underperforming. We also negotiate PMP and direct deals directly with publishers and sales reps on your behalf, which means fewer wasted cycles on inventory that looks good on paper but doesn't convert, and more of your budget actually reaching qualified audiences.

How we choose between buying routes

Open Auction gives the widest scale at the lowest cost per thousand and the least control over where ads run. A Private Marketplace (PMP) deal uses a deal ID to give you curated supply at an agreed floor. A Preferred Deal fixes the price but not the volume. Programmatic Guaranteed fixes both price and volume, so it behaves like a direct buy.

The choice follows the goal. For example, a launch that needs predictable reach in a defined audience might anchor on a PMP or Programmatic Guaranteed deal and use open auction, with tighter brand-safety settings, to extend reach. A performance campaign may run mostly in open auction and move budget to deals once the winning placements are clear.

What is set up before spend starts

Before a campaign goes live we set brand-safety and viewability thresholds, the verification tag if you use one, frequency caps, audience and geo rules, bid strategy and conversion tracking. Deal IDs are tested in the DSP to confirm they are active and bidding, because a deal that exists but is not eligible simply wins nothing.

Creative tests are built in from the start: one variable at a time, with a written question and a decision date, so the test result leads to a budget change. Mid-flight we review delivery against the thresholds, remove placements that fail them and move budget toward what meets the goal. See the agency trafficking case study for how setup and QA were standardized across two DSPs.

What you provide and what you receive

You provide the brief or media plan with goals, KPIs, budget and flight dates, and either access to your DSP seats or agreement on which seat the buys run in. You receive weekly notes, a deal list with status, a test log and a post-flight report that explains what changed and why.

Next step: send the brief for one upcoming campaign, including the KPI and the budget range. We will reply with a proposed route mix, a testing plan and the questions we need answered before launch.

How an engagement runs

  1. Brief and KPIs

We agree the goal, the KPI that defines success, the budget and the audiences before any buying route is chosen.

  2. Seat, deal and brand-safety setup

We configure the DSP, test deal IDs, and set brand-safety, viewability and frequency controls.

  3. Launch with tests

Campaigns go live with a written creative or audience test, so each change can be traced to a result.

  4. Optimize and report

We review delivery against thresholds during the flight, shift budget, and report what changed and why.

Frequently asked questions

Which DSPs do you have experience running campaigns on?

We work in DV360, The Trade Desk and Amazon DSP, among others, across Display, Video, CTV, DOOH, Mobile, Native and Audio. Tell us your current stack and we will confirm coverage and any ramp-up needed before we start managing spend.

How do you decide between Open Auction and PMP or Programmatic Guaranteed deals?

It depends on the campaign's goals, timeline, and how much inventory certainty you need. Open Auction gives scale and flexibility; PMP and Programmatic Guaranteed give more control over placement quality and pricing. We typically blend all three rather than betting a campaign on just one.

How do you prevent budget from getting wasted on bad inventory?

We set brand-safety and viewability parameters at campaign setup, not after the fact, and monitor delivery against those thresholds throughout the flight. Combined with our creative testing framework, this means underperforming placements or ad sets get identified and adjusted mid-flight instead of only showing up in a post-campaign report.

Do you handle the media buying strategy, or just execute what we tell you to buy?

Both, depending on what you need. Some clients hand us a fully built media plan to execute; others bring us in earlier to help build the channel strategy, deal structure, and testing plan. We scale our involvement to match how much strategic support you want.

Can you negotiate direct deals with publishers on our behalf?

Yes. We handle PMP and direct deal negotiation directly with publisher sales teams, which frees your internal team from the back-and-forth of rate cards, deal IDs, and inventory availability checks.

How often will we get visibility into campaign performance?

That is set by your reporting cadence. Weekly check-ins are common, with dashboard access in between so you are not waiting on us for a status update.
